MisinfoDay 2024 | March (Various Dates)
More than 650 Washington high school students, teachers, librarians, and other educators participated in MisinfoDay 2024 events in March at the University of Washington in Seattle and Washington State University in Pullman and Vancouver. New presentations included a keynote address from Mike Caulfield on the SIFT method, a new activity on fact-checking TikTok from CIP Senior Research Scientist Dr. Rachel Moran-Prestridge, and a new session from CIP co-founder Kate Starbird titled, “What’s Your Frame? How We Make Sense of Online Rumors.”

MisinfoDay 2023 | Tuesday, March 14
Approximately 700 Washington high school students, teachers, librarians and other educators participated in MisinfoDay 2023 educational workshops and activities across three in-person events in March at the University of Washington in Seattle and Washington State University in Pullman and Vancouver. The annual MisinfoDay program, co-presented through an ongoing statewide partnership between UW’s Center for an Informed Public and WSU’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, included educational gaming activities, workshops and presentations designed to help students become better evaluators of information, improve data-reasoning and fact-checking skills and understand how to navigate complicated information environments online.

MisinfoDay 2022 | Tuesday, March 15
The MisinfoDay 2022 program featured eight virtual, pre-recorded workshops facilitated by experts from UW CIP, UW Bothell and WSU’s Murrow College of Communication, with complimentary classroom activities, plus a special “escape room” game available as a teaching resource. We had more than 100 classes from more than 70 schools in Washington state beyond attend the annual event. | LEARN MORE
MisinfoDay 2021 | Thursday, March 18
More than 1,000 middle and high school students, teachers and educators from across Washington state and the nation participated in MisinfoDay 2021. The annual event featured a series of virtual workshops on March 18, where facilitators explored strategies for spotting misinformation, fact-checking claims and sources, better understanding the landscape of information disorder and the goals and tactics used by those who spread disinformation. | LEARN MORE
MisinfoDay 2020 | Tuesday, May 26
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CIP shifted MisinfoDay 2020 from a planned in-person event on UW’s Seattle campus in March to a virtual event designed for educators and librarians, who represented 15 middle and high schools from five school districts in Washington state. | WATCH THE RECORDING
