Founded in December 2019, the Center for an Informed Public is a collaborative, multidisciplinary research center at the University of Washington in Seattle that brings together faculty, staff, students, and community partners in service of a core mission to resist strategic misinformation, promote an informed society, and strengthen democratic discourse. Software Engineer, UW Center for an Informed Public
The Center for an Informed Public has an outstanding opportunity for a Software Engineer with experience in systems administration and full-stack software development to support cutting edge research in a societally critical field. The software engineer works with a small technical team to support a diverse group of researchers with a range of tools and applications. They set up and maintain servers (local and cloud-based), oversee data collection and storage infrastructure, and build applications to support a range of research needs. The software engineer works with a small technical team, including a data engineer tasked with data collection, storage, and analysis. They also work closely with researchers to ensure that their work is meeting the researchers needs and goals.

Education & Engagement Manager, UW Center for an Informed Public
The Center for an Informed Public has an outstanding opportunity for an Education & Engagement Manager. The Education & Engagement Manager is an experienced professional responsible for curating and developing educational tools and resources for community partners as well as building and maintaining lasting community relationships in support of our mission. Reporting to the Director for Strategy & Operations, the Education & Engagement Manager supports the center’s strategic growth and expansion across its education and engagement pillars, with the goal of translating the center’s research about mis- and disinformation into educational resources, curriculum tools, and public engagement. Activities in the position involve extensive direct contact with the CIP’s diverse internal and external audiences, including faculty, researchers, educators, funders, librarians, journalists, corporate partners, and more. A particular focus is working with communities and populations typically underrepresented in research and practice in this field, which are often more targeted and vulnerable to mis- and disinformation. This role will work closely with center researchers to co-create and apply new approaches emanating from the research. The position is also responsible for managing the center’s Community Fellows program, which aims to bring scholars and professionals to the CIP to network and advance our shared work.
